Eva Gaschler was born July 31, 2004, in Newton Kansas. She lived in that area until she was about a year old and then her parents moved to Ellis Kansas. Eva went to Washington grade school until 4th grade when she was homeschooled. She went back to public school for 5th and the first semester of 6th grade. MacKenzie Swan is the 17 year old from Wright, Kansas and the daughter of Chip and Becky Swan. This is MacKenzie’s second year in high school rodeo. She competes in barrel racing and pole bending. MacKenzie is a junior at Dodge City High School where she is an Honor Roll student and in the top 10% in her class, and was also awarded an Ag department Student of the Month Award in April. She is a member of National Honor Society, FFA and 4-H. MacKenzie has received many achievements in 4-H/FFA. She is currently the chapter FFA President and previously has been the Chapter Reporter and the Vice President. She is a 4-H Junior Superintendent and a member of the 4-H Horse Club.
In the future she plans to attend Colby Community College and major in pre-veterinary/veterinary technician and minor in ag business. She also plans to be a member of the college’s rodeo, equestrian and livestock judging teams. While in college she plans to work at a local horse rehabilitation center helping train mustangs that become future prospects for people. MacKenzie grew up around horses and rodeo but say her parents didn’t push her into it until she sparked her own interest in the sport. “I am just starting out with my journey in the horse world, independently, but have made leaps and bounds since my freshman year and continue to improve daily. I have grown a passion for all things equine. When it comes to horses, I find my freedom. High School Rodeo is freedom for me,” she says. A fun fact is that MacKenzie has never been to the ocean. If she had one wish come true she says it would be to compete in the All In Barrel Race in Las Vegas, Nevada. |
